Premiering on Monday Nov 9th will be Lopez Tonight with George Lopez.
Since his sit-com aired on ABC in the 90’s Lopez has made it a point to stay mainstream and stay in the public eye. What makes Lopez a Godsend culturally is that like Freddie Prinze back in the 70’s, Lopez brings his cultural heritage into the mainstream

How with this play in trying to crack into the audiences of David Letterman and Conon O’Brien will be interesting. TBS is most likely betting that Lopez won’t take from either of the network shows but maybe grab people who don’t usually enjoy late night shows.

Without question George has the tools to be funny.
What would make the Lopez show a smash: If he can find an audience at 11pm that wants the same type of show that their parents watch at 11:30pm. Lopez can be a solid hit but it will be hard because he’ll be contending for the same guests as David, Conan and Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Falon. Still George appeals to a very under served Latino market.
What would make Lopez a flop: If like Magic Johnson and Keenan Ivory Wayans before him, Lopez just can’t make then jump to being a successful late night host.
